Position Overview
Gourmet Food Parlour in Salthill, Galway, is seeking a diligent and hardworking Kitchen Porter to become an integral part of our culinary team. This full-time role involves working 30+ hours weekly across five days with flexible scheduling that may include any days from Monday to Sunday.
Key Responsibilities
- Cleaning and sanitising dishes, kitchen tools, and equipment thoroughly.
- Keeping kitchen surfaces, floors, and workstations spotless and orderly.
- Handling waste disposal and recycling following company guidelines.
- Receiving and organizing incoming deliveries, verifying items, and storing them appropriately.
- Maintaining tidy food storage zones with proper labelling and rotation of supplies.
- Applying the FIFO stock management system, including date labelling of produce.
- Providing basic assistance to chefs during food preparation when needed.
- Ensuring that all kitchen equipment is cleaned and well maintained.
- Adhering strictly to health, safety, and food hygiene protocols at all times.
- Collaborating effectively within the team to maintain smooth kitchen operations.
Candidate Requirements
- Prior experience working in a professional kitchen environment.
- Meticulous attention to hygiene and cleanliness standards.
- Ability to perform competently in a fast-paced kitchen setting.
- Good communication skills combined with a team-oriented mindset.
- Willingness to work during weekends and peak periods as needed.
- Legal eligibility to work in the EU, possessing a valid passport or appropriate work permit/visa.
- Proficiency in English language.
- Knowledge of HACCP standards is advantageous.
