Free Association Live is a new-era live entertainment business that creates everything from close-up immersive productions to large-scale touring shows.
The company currently manages the international growth of Magic Mike Live, which has welcomed more than 2 million attendees from over 70 countries through more than 6,000 shows across Las Vegas and London, with earlier runs in Miami, Dallas, and Berlin since its 2017 launch. In addition to Magic Mike Live, Free Association Live develops original live formats built around intellectual property, spanning dance, music, and immersive storytelling.
Every production is designed to deliver warmth, humor, and premium storytelling, while raising the bar for live entertainment and challenging audience expectations.
Role overview
The VP, Finance is a senior finance leader responsible for owning the full finance function in a hands-on way. Reporting to the CFO and COO, this role acts as the bridge between day-to-day financial operations and executive decision-making, giving leadership the clarity and insight needed to manage the business effectively.
The position works closely with the executive steering committee and supports board reporting, capital planning, and cross-functional financial strategy. The ideal candidate combines strong analytical capability with a practical operating mindset, and is just as comfortable building financial models as presenting recommendations to directors and executives.
Location
This role may be based in Los Angeles, CA, Las Vegas, NV, New York, NY, or London, UK.
Compensation
The base salary range is $160,000 to $180,000, plus a discretionary bonus.
Key responsibilities
Financial planning and analysis
- Direct annual budgeting, quarterly forecasts, and multi-year planning across a multi-entity, multi-market organization.
- Own financial models for current venues in Las Vegas and London, the planned NYC launch, and new project pipelines.
- Create and maintain scenario planning and sensitivity analyses to guide strategic choices.
- Design KPI frameworks that provide leadership with live visibility into business performance.
Reporting and finance systems
- Develop and maintain management reporting tools that give the executive team accurate and timely financial insight.
- Coordinate monthly close activities with accounting and safeguard the accuracy of financial statements across all entities.
- Build reporting materials for the executive steering committee and the board.
- Strengthen financial controls, workflows, and infrastructure so the finance function can scale with the business.
Board and executive support
- Prepare board-facing materials such as financial presentations, investment memoranda, and performance updates.
- Support decisions around capital structure, including debt funding, investor reporting, and fundraising diligence.
- Work with the CFO and COO on strategic projects, transaction analysis, and growth evaluations.
- Contribute as a key finance partner in executive discussions by delivering clear, decision-ready analysis.
Content, deal, and multi-sector finance
- Support analysis and structuring across the company’s business lines, including live events, content, distribution, and licensing.
- Assess strategic partnerships, licensing opportunities, and new market entries from both financial and commercial perspectives.
- Assist with negotiation support and financial due diligence for new business development and IP expansion.
Requirements
- At least 8 years of progressive finance experience, ideally across FP&A, strategic finance, and executive or board-level reporting.
- Background in a media, entertainment, content, or live events business.
- Advanced financial modeling ability and comfort working with complex multi-entity profit and loss structures.
- Proven ability to build and improve financial reporting systems rather than only using existing ones.
- Experience preparing, or directly contributing to, board materials and investor communications.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to turn complex finance topics into concise executive-level narratives.
- Strong ownership mindset, analytical depth, and the ability to work well in a fast-paced, resource-constrained environment.
- Experience in live events, touring, or experiential entertainment is beneficial.
- Exposure to multiple content and revenue streams such as film, TV, music, merchandise, production, or licensing is advantageous.
- Experience in both corporate finance and content or deal strategy is preferred.
- Prior work with a growth-stage company expanding from a single market to multiple markets is a plus.
- Familiarity with cap table management, fundraising processes, or investor-governed/private equity-backed organizations is helpful.
