Role Summary
This is a full-time, on-site English Tutor position based in Brisbane, QLD. The role involves teaching English to primary and/or secondary students through lessons that build reading, writing, comprehension, vocabulary, and grammar skills. The tutor will prepare learning resources, monitor student progress, give useful feedback, and adjust teaching methods to suit different learning styles and abilities.
Key Duties
The tutor will also keep accurate records, share progress updates with students and caregivers, and work with colleagues to improve lesson materials and teaching approaches. Attendance at occasional staff meetings, training sessions, and centre events will also be part of the role.
Qualifications and Skills
The ideal candidate should have strong English teaching and tutoring capability, along with experience supporting learners at varying levels. A strong grasp of English grammar and the ability to explain ideas clearly is important, as is confident communication and the ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and team members. Experience using online tutoring tools or digital platforms is beneficial, even though the role is mainly in person. A qualification or degree in Education, English, Linguistics, or a related area is preferred. The candidate should also be able to manage small groups or classrooms, maintain a positive learning space, and adapt instruction to different learners. An inclusive mindset, cultural awareness, and experience supporting students from diverse backgrounds are important. A current working with children clearance and any other required local certifications are needed, or the willingness to obtain them.
