The role is scheduled for 37.00 hours each week, spread across 5 days from Monday to Sunday, with working hours between 06:44 and 15:00. Because of business needs, you will also be expected to cover 1 in 4 Sundays, working from 11:00 to 19:00.

Royal Mail is looking to expand its delivery team as part of its ongoing transformation, offering the chance to help deliver essential items and messages to homes and businesses across the local community. The job is hands-on and involves working outdoors in all weather conditions, with plenty of walking, driving and customer contact.

What the role involves

  • Carry out mail and parcel deliveries to people and businesses in the local area.
  • Drive as part of your duties and use your time well to complete deliveries efficiently.
  • Provide a reliable, friendly service to customers and represent the business in the community.
  • Work independently while staying organised, punctual and focused on service quality.
  • Be prepared for a physically active role that includes long periods of walking and working outside regardless of the weather.

About you

The employer is seeking someone who is positive, self-driven and comfortable working on their own. You should enjoy helping people, take pride in your work and be able to stay organised while meeting deadlines. A full UK manual driving licence is required, and you must have no more than 6 penalty points.

Benefits and rewards

  • Guaranteed pay at £13.68 per hour, paid monthly and adjusted to your contracted hours.
  • 22.5 days of annual leave, increasing with service, with pro-rating for roles under 37 hours per week.
  • Uniform supplied by the company.
  • Company pension with competitive employer contribution rates.
  • Career progression opportunities, including trainee manager pathways and apprenticeship schemes.
  • Enhanced support for families, including maternity, paternity, adoption and shared parental leave.
  • 24/7 access to wellbeing support tools and services for you and your family, covering physical, mental, financial and social wellbeing.
  • Discounts on high street vouchers, travel and attractions, beauty products and gym memberships.
  • Free stamps at Christmas.

Additional information

This recruitment message notes that roles with 35 to 37 hours per week may be shown as full-time for search purposes, although any role below 37 hours per week is treated as part-time in the employment contract.

If shortlisted, the next stage will be an interview. Applicants are advised to keep contact details current and to review the documents related to acceptable identification and health considerations before applying.

The organisation states that it is committed to inclusion and wants to reflect the diversity of the communities it serves. Applications are welcomed from everyone, with particular encouragement for candidates from the Armed Forces community, including cadet instructors and spouses or partners.
