The role is scheduled for 37 hours per week, spread over 5 days from Monday to Sunday, with working windows between 06:45–14:45 and 10:00–18:00. Because of operational needs, weekend working is required.
The position is described as physical work that includes walking for extended periods and working outdoors in all weather conditions. It is intended for someone who enjoys serving their community and taking pride in reliable delivery work.
About the role
The organisation is undergoing a major transformation and sees this as an exciting time to join. The role supports the delivery of a wide variety of items, from personal mail and official documents to online orders, helping keep local services running for households and businesses.
What we are looking for
- An energetic, self-driven person who can work independently.
- Someone who is well organised, punctual, and committed to good customer service.
- A friendly communicator who enjoys interacting with people in the community.
- Comfort with long periods of walking and outdoor work in changing weather.
- A strong community-minded attitude and pride in doing the job well.
- A full UK manual driving licence with no more than 6 penalty points.
Pay and benefits
The role offers a guaranteed hourly rate of £13.68, paid monthly and adjusted to reflect working hours. Benefits include 22.5 days of holiday, increasing with length of service and adjusted if working fewer than 37 hours per week, plus a full uniform and a company pension with competitive employer contributions.
There are also development opportunities such as trainee manager positions and apprentice schemes, along with enhanced family leave support for maternity, paternity, adoption, and shared parental leave. Additional wellbeing support is available 24/7 for physical, mental, financial, and social assistance. Staff can also access a range of discounts, including high street vouchers, travel and attraction savings, beauty products, gym membership, and free stamps at Christmas.
Additional information
For search purposes, roles with 35–37 hours per week are shown as full-time, although any role under 40 hours per week is treated as part-time in the employment contract.
Applicants selected for the next stage will be invited to interview. They are asked to keep contact details current and review the checklist of acceptable documents as well as the health-related guidance before applying. The employer also states a commitment to inclusion, welcomes applications from all individuals, and particularly encourages members of the Armed Forces community, including cadet instructors and spouses or partners. Adjustments can be discussed with the recruiter if needed during recruitment.
