Overview
This role is tasked with cultivating strategic long-term partnerships with major suppliers to deliver commercial advantages for the organization. The individual also serves as a key problem-solver for complex supplier-related challenges and a point of reference for queries.
Key Responsibilities
- Address complex issues with principal suppliers to ensure uninterrupted high-volume procurement processes.
- Oversee accurate record-keeping and the maintenance of comprehensive audit trails for all purchasing activities.
- Recommend and implement enhancements to operational processes to boost procurement and commercial efficiency.
- Manage purchasing requirements and project specifications in coordination with sector management and suppliers.
- Monitor market trends affecting supply chains, including competitive dynamics, new players, product substitutes, and value chain changes.
- Establish and nurture supplier partnerships to secure benefits such as prompt deliveries and competitive pricing.
- Evaluate suppliers in consultation with reporting managers, authorize minor purchase orders, and ensure compliance with agreed service levels.
- Supervise the preparation of bid packages for customer proposals.
- Maximize contractual advantages by leveraging all beneficial terms.
- Negotiate pricing with suppliers using standard contracts and established parameters aligned with procurement policies.
- Serve as a liaison internally with Finance and Legal departments to resolve commercial and contracting issues promptly.
- Coordinate across multiple work units to promote efficient workflows and accurate deliverables.
- Manage projects and initiatives as assigned by senior leadership.
- Contribute to establishing quality standards for goods and services provided by suppliers.
- Regularly report on departmental performance and service delivery status.
- Analyze reports and metrics to foresee and mitigate operational and business risks.
- Mentor and supervise team members to prepare them for advanced responsibilities.
Experience and Background
- A minimum of five years of relevant experience.
- Previous experience within the telecommunications sector or comparable fast-paced industries.
Education and Certifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Law, or related fields.
- Master's degree in Business Administration, Law, or related disciplines.
- Certifications such as Certified Professional Contracts Manager (CPCM) or Certified Commercial Contracts Manager (CCCM) are recommended but not mandatory.
Skills and Competencies
- Proficient in drafting, reviewing, and managing contracts.
- Expertise in vendor relationship management and procurement workflows.
- Knowledgeable about legal compliance and risk mitigation in contracts.
- Skilled in negotiation techniques and contract lifecycle management software.
- Understanding of financial aspects related to contract budgets and cost controls.
