Motion Asia Pacific is hiring a hands-on Welding Specialist for its Auckland location. What the role involves

  • Work with manufacturing and distribution teams to handle orders efficiently and keep customers informed on delivery progress.
  • Accurately receive, check, and process customer orders while maintaining service quality and following Motion welding procedures and ASME IX standards.
  • Weld, build, and test hoses to match customer specifications, while keeping detailed records of testing activity.
  • Help maintain a safe workplace in line with OSH requirements and company policies.
  • Oversee workshop stock levels and coordinate timely servicing and repairs of equipment such as pumps and reels.
  • Track job costing carefully to support accuracy and customer satisfaction.
  • Use a range of hose assembly methods, including hydraulic crimping and TIG welding of stainless-steel components.
  • Check completed products to confirm they meet required specifications and regulations.
  • Communicate clearly, professionally, and respectfully with internal teams and external customers.
  • Take part in training and development activities as directed, and support colleagues to deliver strong customer service.

Skills and experience needed

  • Trade qualification with demonstrated experience in stainless-steel TIG and purge welding.
  • Basic lathe ability and the confidence to read and work from engineering drawings.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Forklift licence preferred.
  • Full, current driver’s licence required for travel between branches.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Professional, positive, and collaborative approach with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Customer-focused mindset with initiative, teamwork, respect, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Ability to work in line with company conduct expectations and safety requirements.
