Job Overview
The Senior Procurement Specialist will oversee local purchasing activities from start to finish for goods and services that keep the business running. This role is centered on finding and assessing suppliers, leading commercial discussions, handling purchase orders, and tracking supplier performance to support uninterrupted supply and better value for the organization. The position must operate in line with company procurement policies and internal standards while keeping the process efficient and cost-aware.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the full procurement cycle, including sourcing, supplier selection, purchase order creation, and ongoing supplier performance follow-up.
- Shortlist, assess, and approve suppliers based on quality, service levels, pricing, and business needs.
- Run RFQs, manage competitive bidding processes, and carry out supplier evaluations.
- Lead negotiations on pricing, commercial conditions, and service arrangements with vendors.
- Build and maintain a dependable pool of approved suppliers.
- Prepare and manage purchase orders in alignment with approved requisitions and procurement guidelines.
- Ensure procurement work is completed accurately and within expected timelines.
- Track order progress and coordinate with suppliers to secure on-time delivery.
- Check that purchase orders, goods received, and supplier invoices are properly matched and reconciled.
- Keep supplier files, qualification documents, and contract-related records up to date.
- Review supplier performance against service commitments, quality expectations, pricing, and delivery targets.
- Respond to supplier issues and help drive corrective action when needed.
- Develop strong supplier partnerships that support continuity of supply.
- Contribute to cost-reduction efforts through strategic sourcing and negotiation.
- Look for ways to streamline procurement workflows and improve operating efficiency.
- Assist with spend analysis and procurement reporting.
- Support adherence to approved purchasing controls and compliance standards.
- Make sure procurement activity follows company policies, procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Maintain complete and accurate procurement records and documentation.
- Support internal and external audits connected to procurement processes.
- Work closely with internal teams to meet procurement needs effectively.
Experience and Education
A bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or a related discipline is required. The role calls for more than 3 years of experience in procurement or sourcing, ideally involving local KSA supplier markets and work within a regulated distribution or healthcare setting. Practical experience with RFQs and negotiation of pricing and payment terms is expected. Candidates should also be comfortable using ERP procurement modules, including requisitions, purchase orders, and three-way matching.
Preferred Skills and Competencies
Strong capability in supplier sourcing and qualification, RFQ handling, competitive bidding, commercial negotiation, purchase-order control, and three-way match processes is important. Familiarity with the local KSA supplier landscape is preferred. Experience in indirect and services procurement, spend analysis, category management, and supplier requirements related to medical goods and SFDA expectations will be an advantage.
