Job description

Role overview

This position is responsible for bringing structure, cost control, and governance to local purchasing across aljeel’s domestic supplier base. The focus is on spend that supports operations, logistics, and warehouse activities, especially where buying has previously been handled informally or without adequate records. By shifting this spend into a disciplined sourcing and procurement process, the role helps improve cash flow, strengthen profitability, and avoid supply interruptions.

The role has a direct impact on working capital and margin: savings on pricing and better payment terms improve DPO and net profit, while dependable local supply helps keep warehouse and fleet operations running smoothly.

What this role does

You will oversee the full local procurement lifecycle for the categories assigned to you, from supplier sourcing and RFQs through negotiation, purchase order issuance, and supplier performance follow-up. You will act as the control point ensuring purchases are commercially sound, properly approved, and placed with qualified suppliers on terms that support cash protection.

  • Identify, assess, and build a reliable base of local suppliers for assigned categories, including logistics and 3PL services, warehouse and cold-chain consumables, fleet maintenance, facilities, and indirect purchases.
  • Manage competitive RFQ processes and negotiate commercial terms, including pricing and payment conditions, in line with cost-saving and DPO targets set with the Procurement Manager.
  • Create and administer purchase orders from approved requisitions, making sure three-way matching is enforced so that ordered, received, and invoiced quantities and values align.
  • Convert informal or undocumented local buying into formal agreements supported by traceable and comparable quotations or bids.
  • Keep supplier qualification documentation current and work with QA & Regulatory Affairs whenever purchased items or services require compliance review.
  • Monitor supplier performance across pricing, lead time, quality, and on-time delivery, and take corrective action when service levels fall short.

Success measures

  • Proven cost reduction against the current baseline for assigned categories, based on targets agreed with the Procurement Manager.
  • Improved DPO on local spend through stronger payment-term negotiations, while maintaining uninterrupted supply.
  • A higher proportion of local spend managed through formal contracts, with a noticeable reduction in ad hoc and maverick purchases.
  • Purchase-order processing completed within the agreed service level from requisition to issued PO.
  • A documented, qualified, and auditable local supplier base covering all assigned categories.

Qualifications and experience

  • A bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
  • At least 3 years of experience in procurement or sourcing, ideally within the KSA local supplier market and in a regulated distribution or healthcare setting.
  • Practical experience conducting RFQs and negotiating pricing and payment terms with vendors.
  • Working understanding of ERP procurement tools, including requisitions, purchase orders, and three-way matching.
  • Preference will be given to Saudi nationals, as the role requires strong Arabic communication and close familiarity with the local market.

Skills and competencies

  • Supplier discovery, assessment, and qualification
  • RFQ preparation and competitive bidding
  • Commercial negotiation for pricing and payment terms
  • Purchase order control and three-way match discipline
  • Knowledge of the Saudi supplier landscape
  • Indirect and services procurement
  • Logistics and 3PL contracting
  • Spend analysis and category management
  • Understanding of supplier requirements linked to SFDA-regulated medical goods

Language requirements

Professional fluency in both Arabic and English is required. Strong spoken Arabic is essential for daily dealings with local suppliers.

Working relationships

This role works closely with internal stakeholders across Procurement, Warehousing, Transportation, Customs Clearance, Finance, QA & Regulatory Affairs, and requisition owners from different functions. Externally, the position engages with local suppliers, service providers, logistics and 3PL partners, and vendors or contractors supporting warehouse buildout.
