Role overview
This full-time, on-site position in Ras Laffan, Qatar is focused on preparing, assembling, and serving a wide range of salads, chilled dishes, and other nutritious menu items in line with the company’s standards and recipe requirements.
Key duties
You will be responsible for cleaning, slicing, and preparing fruits and vegetables, making dressings and marinades, and ensuring each dish is portioned and plated correctly for service. The role also covers menu support, buffet preparation, and assistance with larger catering functions.
Kitchen hygiene and compliance
Maintaining a clean, safe, and well-organized cold kitchen is a major part of the job. This includes following food safety practices, keeping ingredients properly stored, labelled, and rotated, and working in accordance with HSE and quality procedures.
Teamwork and operational support
The Salad Chef will work closely with other kitchen staff to plan menus, adapt recipes for dietary needs or feedback, operate kitchen equipment safely, and help with stock checks and purchasing as needed.
Qualifications
- Hands-on experience in the cold kitchen, including salad making, fruit and vegetable preparation, and basic dressing or sauce work.
- Good understanding of food hygiene, safe handling, storage practices, and HACCP or comparable standards.
- Background in high-volume catering, hotels, or institutional kitchens, preferably in industrial or remote-site settings.
- Ability to work from standard recipes, portion rules, and presentation instructions while keeping quality consistent.
- Strong planning, time management, and multitasking abilities to handle service timelines and large-scale catering needs.
- Comfort working both as part of a varied team and independently with little supervision.
- Basic reading and numeracy skills, with the ability to follow menus, recipes, and production schedules in English.
- Formal culinary education or a certificate in culinary arts or food production is an added advantage.
- Experience in the Gulf region or in Oil & Gas catering operations is beneficial.
