Job description
Role overview
Google’s Payments team builds experiences that make digital payments straightforward, reliable, and secure. This position focuses on product leadership for the Anti-Financial Crimes side of the payments platform, supporting regulatory compliance capabilities that are important to internal businesses such as Play Marketplace and Cloud.
You will partner across product, engineering, operations, data science, and compliance to shape products from early concept through launch and post-launch improvement. The work involves translating business and regulatory needs into product strategy, defining tools used by analysts, and exploring how machine learning can improve efficiency and decision-making.
Key focus areas
- Lead product areas within the Payments anti-financial crime platform, including anti-money laundering, screening, and regulatory reporting.
- Work with compliance stakeholders to identify, evaluate, and prioritize needs that help lower regulatory, reputational, and other compliance risks.
- Collaborate with first-party integrators such as Cloud and Play to understand their compliance requirements and deliver products that support their growth.
- Create a strategy and roadmap for smarter alerting powered by AI/ML, with the goal of reducing false positives and false negatives and improving analyst review workflows.
- Drive complex cross-functional programs for the core compliance platform and help ensure timely execution.
What success in this role looks like
The role requires the ability to connect technical depth with business judgment, manage multiple stakeholders, and communicate clearly at different levels of detail—from hands-on technical discussions to executive presentations. It also calls for strong problem solving, structured thinking, and the ability to influence outcomes across teams.
Minimum qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree or equivalent hands-on professional experience.
- At least 5 years of product management experience.
Preferred qualifications
- 6 or more years of industry experience leading complex products that involve machine learning, operations, external vendors, multiple stakeholders, and cross-functional teams.
- Experience creating technical roadmaps and implementation plans, and presenting those plans to cross-functional partners.
- Strong problem-solving, planning, organizational, and influencing abilities, along with the capacity to provide thought leadership and build relationships.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to tailor messages for technical audiences and executive-level stakeholders.
- Ability to work with SQL for data analysis and to build data visualizations.
