Mower Operator

The opportunity

This position is based in Katikati and supports the wider Bay of Plenty area. People living in Waihi, Katikati, Ōmokoroa, Whakamarama, and nearby communities are encouraged to apply.

You will be part of a practical outdoor team that helps care for parks, reserves, and public spaces throughout the region. The role is suited to someone who enjoys outdoor work, machinery operation, and taking pride in keeping community spaces tidy and well maintained.

As part of the Downer BOP Greenspace team, your work will focus on mowing and turf maintenance in line with company procedures and client expectations. Training can be provided where needed.

Key duties

• Carry out mowing and weed-eating tasks
• Manage edging and vegetation control work
• Collect litter and maintain a clean, presentable site
• Operate and look after equipment
• Follow assigned routes and complete the required records and paperwork

Skills and experience

This job suits someone who is physically capable, dependable, and comfortable working outdoors. The following experience and capabilities are valued:

• Experience in mowing, landscaping, farming, or horticulture is preferred
• A full Class 1 driver licence is required; a Class 2 licence is an advantage
• Ability to complete timesheets and use handheld electronic devices
• Confidence working alone with machinery and keeping it maintained
• A positive, quality-focused approach to work
• Reliability, strong work ethic, and a safety-first mindset
