About the Property

This opportunity is based at Mantra Hervey Bay in Wondunna, Queensland, on the Southern Queensland coast. The property sits by the marina and offers wide ocean views, with apartment-style accommodation ranging from one to three bedrooms. Guests can also enjoy a heated outdoor lagoon-style pool with a bridge and waterfall feature. In your free time, the area offers activities such as driving around K'gari in a 4WD, swimming in clear shoreline waters, or joining a sunset cruise to see Australia’s humpback whale migration.

Role Overview

As a Maintenance Assistant, you will handle a wide mix of repair, upkeep, painting, and improvement work across the property. The role calls for someone who can identify issues early, take practical action before problems grow, and keep the site in excellent condition through reliable hands-on support.

This position is suited to someone who prefers afternoon and evening work, typically from 1:00pm to 9:00pm. Weekend availability is required according to business needs, and during busy periods you may be rostered for several weekends in a row. The role attracts penalty rates of $26.70 per hour Monday to Friday, $33.38 on Saturdays, $40.05 on Sundays, and $60.08 on Public Holidays.

Key Duties

• Keep guest rooms, shared facilities, and common areas in strong working order and a tidy, presentable state.
• Work closely with the wider team while also being capable of completing tasks on your own.
• Respond to varied maintenance challenges and find practical solutions when unexpected issues arise.
• Carry out general maintenance work as well as planned preventative maintenance activities.

Experience and Skills

• Comfort with physical work, a proactive attitude, and the determination to see each task through safely and neatly.
• Hands-on experience in general building maintenance, including basic carpentry, plumbing, or electrical work; formal trade qualifications are not required.
• Strong problem-solving ability and clear communication skills for dealing with managers, guests, and onsite contractors.
• Availability to work different shifts, including weekends and public holidays when needed.
