Role overview
The Guest Room Attendant is responsible for keeping guest rooms, corridors, and storage spaces clean, well-presented, and aligned with the hotel’s hygiene, quality, and brand standards.
Key duties
- Clean and maintain guest rooms, corridors, and storage areas, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, carpet shampooing, curtain cleaning, and dusting/polishing furniture, fixtures, and fittings.
- Prepare beds properly and ensure rooms are arranged neatly and to the expected presentation standard.
- Inspect each assigned room after cleaning, confirm that all tasks are complete, and carry out any final touch-ups before marking it ready.
- Replenish guest toiletries, linen, supplies, and in-room and bathroom advertising materials according to room-type standards.
- Clear waste from guest rooms and public areas, empty bins, and move refuse to the designated collection point.
- Notify the Housekeeping Supervisor immediately about maintenance defects, damaged property, or missing amenities.
- Support daily room assignment and allocation activities.
- Handle lost-and-found items according to the correct hotel procedure.
- Perform deep-cleaning assignments and other special housekeeping tasks as requested.
- Process guest laundry in accordance with hotel policy.
- Assist with routine stock counts for equipment and supplies.
- Protect guest room access and keys at all times by following security procedures.
- Escalate any suspicious people or items to the supervisor without delay.
- Comply with health, safety, and hygiene rules, including proper use of cleaning chemicals and personal protective equipment.
Requirements
- A certificate or diploma in hospitality or a similar field is an advantage.
- Prior housekeeping experience in a hotel setting is preferred.
- Working knowledge of cleaning methods and hygiene standards is needed.
- Strong eye for detail and good organizational ability.
- Capable of working on your own as well as with a team.
- Good communication skills and a positive approach to work.
- Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
