The Corporate Legal team at Ather Energy safeguards the company’s vast Intellectual Property (IP) assets, crucial to advancing future mobility. This mid-level position seeks a self-driven, exceptionally organized IP Paralegal and Operations Specialist to autonomously handle IP operations and administrative functions. The role serves as the key coordinating point within the IP division, overseeing financial workflows, compliance, vendor management, and cross-team collaboration in a dynamic setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor statutory timelines domestically and internationally relating to office actions, renewals, and filings, and manage associated formal documents like Form-1 involving inventors.
- Maintain and audit both physical and electronic IP archives from Indian IP Offices, ensuring readiness for audits at all times.
- Oversee financial responsibilities including tracking expenses, forecasting quarterly budgets, and validating global and domestic attorney invoices with minimal supervision.
- Lead preparation and management of data required for quarterly, annual, statutory, and financial audits within the IP domain.
- Manage IP management software platforms, ensuring data accuracy, routine cleanups, vendor onboarding, and renewal processes.
- Ensure consistency between internal trademark tracking and public assets and design detailed monthly/quarterly MIS reports for leadership.
- Act as the main liaison for vendors, coordinate IT and administrative setups, conduct IT audits of vendors, and facilitate organizational changes and employee exit procedures.
- Organize IP award data management, certificate and trophy procurement for inventors, and independently plan and execute internal IP events and Ideathons annually.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Law (LL.B or B.A. LL.B), Commerce, Business Administration, or related disciplines.
- Between 3 to 7 years of experience as an IP Paralegal, IP Operations Specialist, or Legal Administrator, ideally in automotive/technology firms or premium IP law firms.
Essential Skills and Knowledge
- Thorough knowledge of Indian IP filing processes and legal documentation for Patents, Trademarks, and Designs, with attentiveness to statutory deadlines.
- Advanced skills in MS Excel for budget forecasting, complex data analysis, and comprehensive MIS reporting.
- Expertise in professional IP management tools and sophisticated docketing software.
- Strong competency in corporate financial control, expenditure tracking, procurement processes, and quarterly budget management.
Desirable Competencies
- Effective coordination of operational risk monitoring and employee asset clearance procedures.
- Management of brand compliance across public trademarks and digital tracking systems.
- Proven capability in corporate event planning, stakeholder engagement, and marketing efforts related to IP activities.
- Experience with corporate legal administrative tasks such as documentation stamping, notarizations, and enforcement documentation.
