Job description

About the Role and Team

The Production team at Ather Energy manages battery manufacturing operations by directing shift members to meet key performance metrics defined by Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, and Morale (SQCDM) objectives. This Shift In-charge role focuses on overseeing battery and box assembly by coordinating a team of approximately 3000 associates, ensuring achievement of daily production goals and promoting skill development through on-the-job training.

Key Responsibilities

  • Guide the production team to consistently reach daily operational targets and KPIs aligned with SQCDM.
  • Organize and implement multiskilling programs through practical training to ensure skilled workforce deployment across workstations.
  • Effectively allocate manpower resources to meet daily goals and promptly address any deviations from KPIs.
  • Maintain strict compliance with all operational procedures, emphasizing production line cleanliness via 5S principles.
  • Oversee recruitment in accordance with production requirements and conduct performance reviews and counseling for team members.
  • Ensure preparedness for all internal audits and external ISO inspections related to processes and inventory.
  • Facilitate change management protocols (MQ1, SOR, DAP) and collaborate with specialist operations teams for process containment strategies.
  • Address employee grievances, enhance competency models, and foster continuous improvements through organized Kaizen and group activities.

Experience and Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Technology or related engineering field.
  • 3 to 7 years of direct experience in production or manufacturing operations.

Essential Skills and Competencies

  • Demonstrated expertise in leading people to align production teams during shifts.
  • Strong communication and presentation capabilities for effective stakeholder engagement.
  • Proficient in lean manufacturing methods and productivity enhancements at workstation level.
  • Advanced understanding of quality improvement methods including A3 problem solving and PDCA techniques.

Preferred Skills

  • Basic familiarity with Integrated Management Systems such as ISO 14001, 45001, and 9001, and knowledge of digital manufacturing under Industry 4.0 frameworks.
  • Hands-on experience using SAP and JIRA for operational monitoring and technical task management.
  • Knowledge of assembly line and production concepts supporting various manufacturing stations.
  • Competency in managing data and communications using G-Suite productivity tools.
