The organization is known for a collaborative, forward-thinking culture, a focus on continuous improvement, and a commitment to professional development and customer service.
In this position, you will act as a central HR partner for employees and managers, helping keep day-to-day people operations running smoothly across multiple departments and locations. The role calls for someone who is organized, discreet, and well-versed in Canadian employment rules, with the ability to manage confidential matters professionally.
You will contribute across recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, payroll and benefits support, compliance, health and safety, training, reporting, and broader process improvement initiatives. This is a strong fit for an HR professional who enjoys variety, ownership, and the chance to shape a positive workplace culture in a global logistics environment.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the main HR contact for employee and manager questions, while keeping personnel records accurate, secure, and up to date.
- Support HR policies, procedures, audits, compliance activities, documentation, communications, and reporting needs.
- Coordinate end-to-end hiring activities, including job postings, candidate screening, interview scheduling, reference verification, and offer preparation.
- Assist with onboarding, orientation, and job description updates in partnership with hiring managers.
- Provide day-to-day support on employee relations matters and escalate more complex issues when required.
- Contribute to workplace investigations, performance management, disciplinary processes, and engagement initiatives such as wellness, recognition, and DEI programs.
- Help manage benefits enrollment, employee changes, and terminations, and work with payroll/shared services to maintain accurate records.
- Perform periodic audits of payroll and benefits information.
- Support compliance with federal and provincial employment legislation, human rights requirements, occupational health and safety, and workers’ compensation.
- Take part in health and safety activities, including JHSC involvement, claims handling, and return-to-work coordination.
- Organize training sessions, maintain training records, and support professional development and compliance training tracking.
- Prepare HR reports and metrics, identify ways to improve processes, and contribute to cross-functional and HR projects.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- 3 to 8 years of progressive HR experience.
- Strong working knowledge of Canadian employment law, human rights requirements, occupational health and safety, and workers’ compensation.
- Fluency in both English and French, written and spoken.
- Experience supporting HR programs across multiple provinces is an advantage.
- Hands-on experience with HRIS platforms such as Dayforce, ADP, or similar systems.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- High attention to detail and the ability to manage confidential information carefully.
- Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.
Benefits
- Comprehensive coverage for health, dental, and vision beginning on day one.
- Premium sharing for benefits, with employees paying 30% and the employer covering 70%.
- Two weeks of vacation.
- Five sick days available after three months.
- Prorated PTO during the first year.
- Discretionary bonuses tied to performance and business results.
- Registered Savings Plan with employer match of dollar-for-dollar up to 3%.
