Job description

Role overview

This is a permanent, full-time opportunity for a practical, multi-skilled Handyperson to support supported accommodation services across East Yorkshire. The role involves hands-on maintenance and assistance across a range of homes and communal spaces, helping colleagues keep services running smoothly for customers with varied support needs.

Location-wise, the role is based in Hull and involves travelling across the East Yorkshire area, mainly covering Hull, Scunthorpe, Driffield, Scarborough, and Doncaster. In occasional urgent situations, you may also work beyond the usual patch.

Working pattern

The position is 37.5 hours per week, typically Monday to Friday from 9:00am to 5:00pm. The organisation states that the schedule can be flexible as long as customer needs are met.

Pay and employment terms

The salary for this role is £26,300 per year. This is a permanent appointment. Sponsorship is not available for this position, so a Certificate of Sponsorship cannot be provided.

What you will do

You will carry out a wide range of minor repair and upkeep tasks across properties and shared areas. The work is varied and practical, covering both planned and reactive jobs.

  • Complete small repairs, urgent fixes, decorating, and cleaning in homes and communal spaces.
  • Undertake practical tasks such as fitting curtain poles, moving furniture, repainting touch-ups, replacing washers, clearing blocked sinks, mowing grass, and tidying grounds.
  • Carry out routine fire safety inspections.
  • Work closely with colleagues, contractors, and customers to keep work progressing.
  • Pass repairs outside your responsibility to the Customer Service Centre or relevant contractors and follow up where needed.

What the employer offers

The role comes with a range of benefits, including annual leave, pension support, health coverage, and access to quicker pay. The organisation also highlights rewards and discounts and describes itself as a supportive, inclusive workplace.

You will receive the tools, trust, and training needed to do the job well, alongside the chance to make a meaningful difference to communities and customer wellbeing.

Additional information

The employer says it is one of the UK’s Great Places to Work and values inclusion, wellbeing, and diversity networks. A Standard DBS check is required, and the employer will cover the cost.

Applicants are encouraged to apply promptly because vacancies may close before the stated closing date. Reasonable adjustments can be requested by email.

Closing date

Applications close on 26 June at 11:59 PM.
