About the Role

BJ’s Wholesale Club is a large team of more than 30,000 people working together to help members save on the things that matter most. This position supports that mission by handling facility maintenance tasks for buildings, equipment, and grounds in an active warehouse environment.

What You’ll Do

  • Support the upkeep and safe operation of facility equipment and systems.
  • Follow all applicable safety programs, including EPA and OSHA rules, procedures, and internal policies.
  • Use computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) information to complete preventive maintenance, repairs, and documentation accurately and on time.
  • Keep records, forms, and paperwork complete, neat, and correct.
  • Communicate respectfully and work well with others, including in challenging situations.
  • Work independently with limited supervision while also helping teammates as needed.
  • Maintain a strong focus on personal and team safety at all times.
  • Operate and care for equipment safely and responsibly.
  • Immediately report unsafe equipment, conditions, or behavior to a supervisor.
  • Act quickly when safety issues need correction.
  • Show proper care for buildings and equipment and raise safety concerns when noticed.
  • Recommend improvements related to equipment or safety when appropriate.
  • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) requirements and procedures.
  • Keep work areas clean and orderly during the shift and at the end of the shift.
  • Operate Material Handling Equipment (MHE) if properly trained, certified, and assigned.
  • Follow lockout/tagout and permit procedures correctly.
  • Handle other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED is required; college coursework, continuing technical education, or similar business experience is preferred.
  • Warehouse experience is preferred.
  • Prior experience with Material Handling Equipment is preferred.
  • Ability to stay calm, focused, and organized while balancing requests from multiple sources.
  • Comfort using basic hand tools.
  • Basic understanding of general construction, plumbing, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Ability to read label information and small print on packaging and documents, with or without corrective lenses.
  • Ability to follow instructions through a headset-based selection system such as VoCollect.
  • Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed to meet customer demand.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs frequently and up to 100 lbs occasionally.
  • Ability to respond to weather emergencies and perform required physical tasks in such situations.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces.
  • Ability to complete a pre-shift stretching routine.
  • Ability to pass a respirator fit test and wear a respirator and SCBA when required.
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and squat frequently or continuously in a refrigerated warehouse environment.
  • Ability to grasp, reach, push, and pull items such as boxes or hand trucks on a frequent basis.
  • Good hand-eye coordination and depth perception for safe operation of equipment such as forklifts, reach trucks, and HiLo units.
  • Ability to step onto and off equipment as needed.
  • Ability to work at elevated heights while using required PPE, including fall protection.
  • Ability to reach above shoulder level frequently.
  • Ability to work in temperatures that vary widely, including freezing conditions as low as -20°F.
  • Ability to work in a noisy warehouse setting.
  • Ability to wear and communicate through headsets for long periods when required.
  • Ability to use job-related PPE such as steel-toed footwear, harnesses, safety glasses, hard hats, gloves, and insulated clothing.
  • Ability to work around products that may contain food allergens such as fish, shellfish, and peanuts.
  • Ability to use work equipment safely and accurately after training, including computers, scanners, printers, radios, forklifts, reach trucks, and handheld devices.

Compensation and Benefits

  • The estimated pay range for this role is $20.75 to $24.90 per hour.
  • Pay is reviewed using factors such as location, education, experience, and qualifications.
  • Weekly pay is provided.
