Role Overview

As a Draftsman (Piping), you will report to the Piping & Layout Manager and contribute to Saipem Qatar’s Engineering Fixed Facilities Department in Doha.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver 2D drafting work and basic 3D modelling assignments within project timelines while meeting the required quality standards for design, checking, testing, or study activities.
• Coordinate and stay in regular contact with other draftsmen, offshore structural project specialists, engineers, and designers.
• Carry out work in line with QA/QC and HSE requirements at all times.
• Review the input information for assigned tasks and flag any mismatch or anomaly to designers, engineers, or the structural project specialist lead.
• Create simple 3D models using Tekla or comparable 3D CAD software when required.
• Prepare drawings related to installation sequences, operating equipment use, and general vessel layouts.
• Develop bills of materials and material take-offs for procurement requisitions.
• Self-check work thoroughly to ensure all produced documents are accurate and complete.
• Sign off the documents prepared.
• Communicate changes arising from the issued documents to all relevant stakeholders.
• Check the work of other draftsmen in the team when requested.
• Revise documents based on feedback from other disciplines, clients, yards, and third-party reviewers.
• Follow the applicable Quality Control Procedure throughout the assigned work.

Requirements

• A master’s degree in Piping Engineering is preferred.
• At least 5 years of EPC experience in drafting, at an expert level.
• Strong command of English.
• Working knowledge of EPC project processes and procedures.
• Understanding of project management tools and methodologies.
• Ability to provide technical support and work with bidding methods, standard codes, regulations, design criteria, and guidelines.
• Hands-on experience with engineering design activities, 2D/3D modelling, and electronic document management systems.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Microsoft Project.
• Advanced Excel capability.

Working Conditions

This is a permanent contract for a project-based role. The position is based in Doha, Qatar, with a 45-hour workweek arranged as 9 hours per day across 5 days.
