Role Purpose
In this position, you will join the Offshore Engineering Department and support the Lead Loss Prevention Engineer. Your main objective will be to contribute to project safety and reliability by carrying out engineering design work and preparing technical documents in line with international codes and client specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out design work and produce documentation that supports project safety and reliability objectives.
- Examine and validate technical documents prepared across different disciplines.
- Track the scope of work, issue change notices when needed, and coordinate with PMT and other engineering disciplines.
- Develop and verify major safety deliverables, such as loss prevention philosophies and safety concepts.
- Prepare the fire protection design basis.
- Create hazardous area classification schedules and layout drawings.
- Draft passive fire protection specifications, schedules, and layouts.
- Develop fire and gas design philosophies along with detection system layouts.
- Prepare layout drawings showing safety equipment locations, escape routes, and safety signage.
- Define and characterize firefighting protection systems, including hydraulic calculations for firewater networks and spray systems.
- Write specifications for firefighting, safety, and lifesaving equipment, and assess vendor-submitted documents.
- Organize safety workshops and review safety studies produced by third parties.
- Work closely with drafting teams to support drawing production and development.
Requirements
- Master’s degree or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably Chemical, Mechanical, Safety, or a closely related discipline.
- 10 to 15 years of experience in oil and gas projects, ideally with exposure to offshore wellhead or process platforms.
- Strong command of English; additional language skills will be considered an advantage.
- Working knowledge of Qatar Energy, ADNOC, Shell, Aramco standards, as well as applicable international regulations.
- Hands-on experience in preparing firewater network P&IDs.
- Solid understanding of fire protection systems, hazardous area classification, passive fire protection, and fire and gas detection systems.
