Job description

Overview

Arc Infrastructure develops and manages transport assets that help drive economic growth and employment across Western Australia. Its rail network spans around 5,500 km and forms a major freight corridor linking the Midwest, Goldfields, Yilgarn, South West and Great Southern regions. The organisation works closely with industry partners, customers and communities to identify opportunities that strengthen the network and support the state.

Role summary

This permanent full-time position is based at the Perth Airport head office and sits within the Engineering team. The successful applicant will focus on signalling and electrical drafting work and will report to the Senior Signalling Engineer. The role supports projects connected to the ongoing upgrade of signalling and electrical systems to meet future demand.

The main purpose of the role is to create, update and maintain designs, plans and records for signalling and electrical works and equipment in line with Arc’s technical standards and drafting processes.

Key duties

  • Produce CAD drawings and plans for new works or modifications in signalling and electrical engineering.
  • Revise design records so they reflect the as-built condition after commissioning, site checks or maintenance updates.
  • Prepare and maintain operational drawings such as station sketches and signalling diagrams.
  • Check that CAD designs meet drafting and design standards when they are submitted by internal engineers, external consultants, contractors or other parties.
  • Maintain signalling and electrical design records, including version control, storage, issue tracking and receipt of updated documents.
  • Help review and improve drafting procedures and related standards.

What you need

The preferred candidate will bring a Diploma in Engineering or a higher qualification, along with at least five years of experience in an electrical CAD drafting setting. Rail signalling and electrical experience would be an advantage. Strong capability with AutoCAD or similar design software and the Microsoft Office suite is also required, together with a practical understanding of rail design drafting standards and practices.
