This position is for an Industry Standards Lead based onsite in Shannon, reporting to the CTO on a full-time permanent basis. The role is suited to a technical specialist who wants to influence global standards, represent the company in international forums, and help ensure life safety products meet and outperform regulatory expectations.
What you will do
- Represent the company in international standards organizations, technical committees, and working groups.
- Contribute technical expertise and practical industry insight to the creation and evolution of product standards.
- Protect and communicate Ei Electronics’ interests as new regulations and standardization initiatives emerge.
- Keep track of worldwide standards, directives, and regulations affecting life safety electronics.
- Review updates and proposed changes in areas such as cybersecurity, radio equipment directives, and wireless communications.
- Assess how new or revised standards could affect existing products and future developments.
- Advise R&D, product development, and quality teams on how to interpret and apply standards.
- Work with internal teams to make sure products are designed, built, and validated in line with relevant rules and certifications.
- Support technical documentation for regulatory filings, certification activities, and audits.
- Follow industry trends, competitor activity, and best practices to identify opportunities to influence standards early.
- Maintain an internal knowledge base on standards and provide updates or training to colleagues.
- Suggest process improvements that strengthen compliance readiness and strategic influence.
Qualifications and experience
- A degree in engineering or another relevant technical field.
- Strong knowledge of global product standards and regulatory frameworks for electronics or safety-critical products.
- Prior experience representing an organization in standards bodies, technical committees, or regulatory groups.
- Understanding of emerging standards and rules such as ETSI, IEC, ISO/IEC 27000 series, RED, FCC, and ETSI EN 300 series, or comparable frameworks.
- Strong capability in analysis, planning, and communication.
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
- Ability to read complex technical standards and turn them into practical guidance for R&D and product teams.
- A strategic, proactive approach to shaping standards development.
- High attention to detail and a strong commitment to quality and compliance.
- Comfort working across R&D, product, quality, and regulatory functions.
