Customer Delivery Driver - Ivybridge Lee Mill Extra

About the role

As the customer-facing driver for Tesco, you will deliver shopping directly to people’s homes and represent the brand on the road every day. The job is more than simply driving; it is about helping customers, providing dependable service, and making each delivery experience feel friendly and reassuring.

This is a practical, active role with plenty of variety, and no two shifts are likely to be identical. You’ll spend a good part of the day working on your own, while still having the support of managers and colleagues based back at the store whenever needed.

Availability window

• Monday: 09:00 to 19:00
• Tuesday: 08:00 to 16:00
• Wednesday: 13:00 to 23:00
• Thursday: 13:00 to 23:00
• Friday: 13:00 to 23:00

Pay and hours

Hourly pay begins at £14.18, with rates increasing to £15.45 in stores located within the M25. Certain locations may also include extra payments. A minimum commitment of 16 hours per week is guaranteed, although 12-hour roles are also available.

Responsibilities

• Keep the van, trays, and work area clean, orderly, and well prepared so every order reaches the customer in excellent condition.
• Load the vehicle safely and carry out all required checks to make sure it is legal, dependable, and ready for service.
• Explain any order amendments, substitutions, or short-dated products clearly and politely, and issue refunds where required to keep the process smooth.
• Handle all products carefully and deliver each order with the same care you would expect for your own shopping.
• Arrive within the customer’s delivery slot and provide warm, professional service at the doorstep.

Requirements

• Be able to work well with colleagues and help build a positive team atmosphere focused on excellent customer service.
• Show a friendly, welcoming approach with both customers and fellow team members.
• Adapt quickly to changing needs while working in store and out on the road.
• Hold a valid UK, EU, or EEA driving licence (full or automatic) for at least 12 months.
• Have no more than 3 penalty points on your driving licence.
