About the role
As a Customer Delivery Driver, you represent Tesco out on the road and in customers’ homes. The job is not limited to driving; it also involves delivering a helpful, friendly service that leaves customers feeling looked after. The work is active, practical, and varied, so every shift can look different. You will spend much of the day working on your own, while still being backed by managers and colleagues at the store whenever support is needed.
Availability window
- Sunday: 09:00 to 19:00
- Monday: 09:00 to 13:00
- Wednesday: 08:00 to 22:00
- Saturday: 08:00 to 13:00
Pay and hours
Hourly pay begins at £14.18, and rises to £15.45 for stores located within the M25. Some sites may also include extra payments. A minimum commitment of 16 hours each week is guaranteed, although roles with 12 hours are also available.
What the job involves
- Keep the van, trays, and work area clean, orderly, and well arranged so every order arrives in excellent condition.
- Load the vehicle safely and complete the necessary checks so it is roadworthy, dependable, and ready for deliveries.
- Explain any order amendments, substitutions, or short-dated products clearly and politely, and issue refunds when required to maintain a smooth customer experience.
- Handle all goods carefully and treat each delivery with the same care you would give your own shopping.
- Deliver orders within the promised time slot and provide a friendly, natural service at the doorstep.
What you need
- Ability to work well with colleagues and contribute to a positive team atmosphere.
- A warm, welcoming manner with both customers and co-workers.
- Comfort with change and the ability to respond quickly to shifting customer needs while working in store and on the road.
- A valid UK, EU, or EEA driving licence, either full or automatic, held for at least 12 months.
- No more than 3 penalty points on the driving licence.
