Job description
Role overview
We are seeking approachable, practical team members to support the Market Street and Café operation. In this role, you will help prepare and serve fresh food, contribute to a welcoming customer experience, and keep day-to-day service running smoothly.
Your work may include serving meals in the café, preparing items such as pizzas, fresh fish, or meat on Market Street, and helping ensure customers receive the food they need efficiently and safely. The role is set in a busy, organised setting with clear routines and timed tasks.
You will also receive training to assist in other parts of the store, including Replenishment and Customer Service, so a flexible attitude and strong teamwork are important.
About the employer
The company is a major UK supermarket brand focused on value, quality, and fresh food. It serves more than 11 million customers each week and is known for preparing a wide range of fresh products in store.
Perks and benefits
This position comes with a flexible work pattern and a broad benefits package, including holiday entitlement, staff discounts, career growth opportunities, wellbeing support, and family-friendly leave policies.
Eligibility and important notes
Applicants must be above the school-leaver age. Some roles may also require candidates to be 18 or older because of health and safety requirements.
The organisation is committed to an inclusive hiring process and can provide reasonable adjustments where needed during recruitment.
What happens next
If selected, you will be contacted shortly after applying. Candidates are asked to monitor their phone and email for updates.
Additional information
The company offers six weeks of holiday including bank holidays, a 15% discount across supermarkets and convenience stores from the first day, and an extra 10% discount card for a friend or family member. Other benefits include subsidised food on site, a competitive pension, life assurance, healthcare and wellbeing support such as a digital GP service, shopping and leisure discounts through a rewards programme, optional payroll charity donations, and family-friendly policies including 26 weeks of maternity and adoption leave plus neonatal and fertility leave.
The role emphasises customer-first service, active involvement, safe use of equipment, and working effectively in a structured, fast-moving environment.
The business describes its team members as Foodmakers and Shopkeepers, working together to deliver a shopping experience customers remember.
