Job description
Role overview
We are looking for a Mechanical Construction Supervisor to oversee contractor-led construction and installation activities for oil and gas projects in Doha, Qatar. The position is focused on ensuring that work is executed safely, on time, and in line with approved project scope, engineering requirements, and QHSE standards.
Qualification
The role requires a B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized university, along with substantial experience in construction-related work within the relevant engineering discipline.
Experience
- At least 10 to 15 years of experience in construction and installation work for oil and gas projects, including large onshore developments.
- Practical background in safeguarding live oil and gas facilities in line with approved design requirements.
- Exposure to construction best practices, systems, processes, and industry standards.
- Strong capability in construction supervision, communication, and conflict handling.
Primary duties and responsibilities
- Oversee contractor-executed construction activities to ensure assigned projects are delivered according to the approved scope of work, design documents, and QHSE requirements.
- Examine and comment on method statements, material submittals, and commissioning procedures from project start through completion and handover.
- Act as the signatory authority for permits to work related to contractor activities.
- Supervise on-site construction and installation work for the relevant engineering discipline in accordance with approved standards and specifications.
- Take part in constructability reviews when needed.
- Assess contractor construction plans, schedules, method statements, and job safety analyses.
- Coordinate contractor mobilization to sites and laydown areas.
- Support the issuance of permits and gate passes required by contractors.
- Inspect and test completed work, or arrange pre-commissioning inspections and testing, and initiate Mechanical Completion Certificates.
- Track and close all punch list items to completion.
- Review and approve red-marked and as-built drawings.
- Participate in handover and acceptance activities, review commissioning procedures, and join facility commissioning as required.
- Review and endorse the construction dossier for assigned projects.
- Contribute to Qatari development by helping ensure Qatari nationals receive suitable training and growth opportunities.
