Role Overview
This position is for a Commi specializing in Indian cuisine at Marriott International in Goa, India. The role is a full-time, non-management kitchen position based onsite at Vagator Beach Road. It supports the preparation and production of food items in line with established recipes, presentation guidelines, and quality expectations.
Key Duties
- Prepare ingredients for cooking by portioning, chopping, washing, peeling, weighing, measuring, and mixing as required.
- Cook dishes according to recipes, food safety standards, presentation standards, and preparation checklists.
- Handle cold food preparation and operate kitchen equipment such as ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves, and fryers.
- Check that food is cooked properly and monitor food quality throughout the preparation process.
- Set up the workstation before service and dismantle it after operations are complete.
- Serve food in the correct portions and into the appropriate containers or receptacles.
- Clean and sanitize kitchen surfaces, tables, utensils, knives, and equipment.
- Verify that appliances and food are maintained at the correct temperatures.
- Follow company procedures, safety rules, and security requirements, and escalate maintenance issues, accidents, injuries, or unsafe conditions to the manager.
- Complete required safety training and certifications.
- Maintain a neat, professional appearance and handle confidential company information responsibly.
- Communicate clearly and respectfully, build positive working relationships, and support team goals.
- Adhere to established quality standards and complete additional duties assigned by supervisors.
- Be able to stand, sit, or walk for long periods and perform physical movements such as bending, twisting, reaching, pulling, and stooping.
- Lift, carry, push, pull, and place items weighing up to 25 pounds without assistance.
Requirements
- High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent is preferred.
- At least 1 year of relevant work experience is preferred.
- No previous supervisory experience is needed.
- No license or certification is required.
