Job description
Role Overview
The Banquet Captain supports food and beverage service during events at the conference centre in Doha. This role focuses on coordinating banquet operations, ensuring guest satisfaction, and keeping service standards high throughout functions.
Key Duties
- Relay service requirements to chefs and stewards during events so food and beverage operations run smoothly.
- Calculate charges for group functions and prepare guest checks for payment collection.
- Make sure banquet spaces, restaurants, and coffee break setups are fully prepared before service begins.
- Arrange appropriate centerpieces on every table in line with event standards.
- Review china, glassware, and silverware for cleanliness and presentation before they are used.
- Check with guests during service to confirm satisfaction and address concerns promptly.
- Set tables according to the event format and the required service style.
- Share any extra meal requests, food allergies, dietary restrictions, and special instructions with the kitchen team.
- Keep workstations clean and orderly throughout the day.
Standards and Conduct
- Follow all company policies, safety rules, and security procedures.
- Report accidents, injuries, and unsafe conditions to a manager immediately.
- Complete required safety training and certifications.
- Maintain a neat, professional uniform and personal appearance.
- Protect confidential information and company property.
- Greet and acknowledge guests in line with company service standards.
- Communicate clearly and professionally, including proper phone etiquette.
- Build positive working relationships and cooperate with teammates to achieve shared goals.
- Listen carefully and respond appropriately to coworker concerns.
- Work in accordance with quality expectations and service standards.
- Be able to move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 25 pounds without assistance.
- Remain standing, sitting, or walking for extended periods when needed.
- Carry out other reasonable duties assigned by supervisors.
Preferred Qualifications
This position calls for a high school diploma or GED equivalent, at least 2 years of related work experience, and a minimum of 1 year of supervisory experience. No license or certification is required.
