Design Confidence is looking for Bid Managers at all levels to take charge of the bid journey from the point it is assigned through to final submission and follow-up. This is a practical, hands-on role for professionals who are confident in managing bids end to end and have a proven history of writing successful proposals.
The role involves leading proposals from opportunity identification to submission, producing strong bid content, coordinating all contributors, and engaging with clients after submission. The company is seeking people who can not only run the process effectively but also help improve success rates and the overall quality of submissions. Candidates with less experience may receive mentoring.
Responsibilities
- Lead the creation, editing, compilation, and ownership of high-quality proposals, VO submissions, tenders, and responses to RFPs, RFQs, RFIs, and TQs.
- Write clear, persuasive, client-focused bid content that communicates the value proposition and win themes effectively.
- Make sure each submission meets all stated requirements, evaluation criteria, and compliance expectations.
- Build and update a strong content repository, including case studies, CVs, and capability statements.
- Take ownership of allocated bids from development through follow-up and award stage.
- Manage bid schedules, internal milestones, and delivery deadlines for all contributors.
- Run bid meetings and review sessions where needed, especially for complex bids.
- Track tender portals and other opportunity channels, assessing and recommending which bids should be pursued.
- Call and follow up with clients regarding submissions, clarifications, and outcomes.
- Handle client clarification requests and responses during live bidding processes.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with clients and procurement contacts.
- Support vendor registration and pre-qualification submissions across different portals.
- Help keep company documents, certifications, and compliance records current and easy to access.
- Work with subcontractors and suppliers to gather bid inputs and pricing.
- Monitor win/loss results, analyse performance, and lead lessons learned discussions to improve future outcomes.
- Prepare bid reports and pipeline summaries for senior management.
- Help improve bid workflows, templates, and tools on an ongoing basis.
- Take on other bid-related tasks assigned by the Head of Bids to strengthen the function and improve win performance.
Requirements
- Proven background as a Bid Manager or Bid Writer, with direct experience of writing bids that were won.
- A clear record of bid success, including the ability to share win-rate details and examples of contract values at interview.
- Excellent English writing ability, with strong attention to detail and a persuasive style.
- Confident communication skills, both written and verbal, with comfort leading client calls and follow-ups.
- Strong organisation and multitasking skills, with the ability to manage several bids simultaneously under tight deadlines.
- Good working knowledge of MS Office and experience using tender portals.
- Self-driven, proactive, and able to work independently under pressure while supporting others on bids.
- Degree-level qualification.
- Experience in the construction, design, engineering, or built-environment sectors.
- Exposure to public sector bids and framework tendering.
- APMP certification is desirable.
- A portfolio or samples of successful winning bids.
- Familiarity with CRM systems.
Perks & Benefits
- High ownership and autonomy in managing the bid function.
- A collaborative and supportive team environment.
- Access to knowledge sharing and training.
- Opportunity to influence and improve bid processes and win performance.
- Varied, high-impact work across multiple clients and sectors.
