Role Summary

The Beauty Advisor is responsible for delivering a standout guest experience by learning each customer’s needs, handling cashier duties, keeping merchandise stocked, maintaining a clean store, and completing assigned tasks. This position supports store leadership through strong performance in sales and service, a people-first approach to guest care, and careful attention to operating procedures and compliance standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Help the store meet or exceed goals for retail sales, services, guest loyalty, credit, omnichannel sales, and shrink reduction.
• Create a welcoming environment by greeting guests, identifying their needs, answering product and service questions, sharing promotions, and suggesting complementary products or services.
• Handle customer service requests, sales transactions, refunds, exchanges, and online order support in a courteous manner.
• Perform makeup applications, skincare consultations, and product demonstrations to support selling and improve the guest experience.
• Schedule appointments and help execute services and in-store events that strengthen the customer experience and support sales targets.
• Stay current on new and existing products and services during working hours, including ingredients and benefits, so guests receive informed guidance.
• Maintain reliable, on-time attendance.
• Support an inclusive workplace for teammates, peers, and all guests.
• Explain the loyalty program, credit offer, and Ulta Beauty app benefits when appropriate.
• Work with managers and fellow associates to support store growth.
• Take part in ongoing training, including brand and category learning, to keep improving professionally and help drive sales.
• Follow company policies, procedures, standards, and dress code requirements.
• Keep assigned areas stocked, signed, faced, and supplied with testers.
• Maintain clean and organized store areas, including the sales floor, restrooms, cashwrap, backroom, and break room.
• Support resets, planograms, marketing displays, inventory counts, and shipment processing/unloading using company tools and best practices.
• Protect company assets by applying loss prevention practices and delivering excellent guest service.
• Complete other operational duties as assigned.

Qualifications

A high school diploma is preferred. One year of relevant work experience, or an equivalent mix of education and related experience, is also preferred. The position calls for a strong interest in guest service and sales, comfort with basic technology such as point-of-sale systems and Apple devices, the ability to build customer relationships, troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Schedule and Work Conditions

This role requires a flexible schedule that includes days, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Work involves continuous movement throughout the store, frequent standing, bending, pulling, pushing, reaching, and twisting, and regular lifting, carrying, or moving of up to 25 pounds. The job also requires ongoing handling and manipulation of objects during the shift.
