Overview

Ulta Beauty is looking for a beauty-focused retail professional who can create memorable guest experiences in a fast-paced store environment. The role brings together product discovery, service, sales, and store presentation, all in support of the brand’s mission to make beauty accessible and inspiring.

Role Summary

The Beauty Advisor is responsible for delivering an outstanding experience to every guest by understanding their needs, assisting with purchases, handling cashiering duties, maintaining stocked fixtures, keeping the store clean, and completing assigned tasks. The role supports store leadership through strong performance, guest service, and adherence to operating procedures and compliance requirements.

The position calls for genuine interest in the beauty category, strong customer interaction skills, and the ability to learn and explain product information clearly.

Key Responsibilities

• Help drive store results by supporting retail and service sales, guest loyalty initiatives including credit, omni-channel sales, and shrink prevention goals.
• Welcome guests warmly, assess their needs, personalize recommendations, answer product and service questions, and share information about promotions and offers.
• Handle customer service issues, sales transactions, refunds, exchanges, and assistance with online orders in a courteous manner.
• Perform makeup applications, skincare consultations, and product demonstrations to improve sales and enhance the guest experience.
• Schedule appointments and support in-store services and events that contribute to both guest satisfaction and sales performance.
• Stay current on new and existing products and services, including ingredients and benefits, so guests receive informed guidance.
• Maintain reliable and punctual attendance.
• Support an inclusive environment for teammates, peers, and all guests.
• Promote the loyalty program, credit offerings, and the brand app when prompted by systems or during conversations with guests.
• Work closely with managers and store associates to help grow the business.
• Take part in ongoing training, including brand and category education, to strengthen development and sales effectiveness.
• Follow company policies, procedures, standards, and dress code requirements.
• Keep assigned areas stocked, signed, faced, and tester-ready to support sales.
• Maintain strong store presentation standards, including the sales floor, restrooms, cash wrap, backroom, and break area.
• Assist with resets, planograms, marketing displays, physical inventory tasks, and shipment processing and unloading using company systems and best practices.
• Protect company assets by using loss-prevention practices and delivering excellent guest service.
• Complete additional operational tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

Applicants should have a passion for guest service and selling, along with the ability to communicate product knowledge confidently. Comfort with basic technology such as point-of-sale systems and Apple devices is important, as is the ability to build strong customer relationships, troubleshoot issues, and work both independently and as part of a team.

A high school diploma is preferred, and prior relevant experience of 1 year or an equivalent mix of education and experience is preferred.

Schedule and Working Conditions

The role requires a flexible schedule that includes days, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Work is performed while moving continuously through the store and may involve frequent standing, bending, pulling, pushing, reaching, and twisting. The job also involves regular lifting, carrying, and moving of items up to 25 lbs., along with continuous handling and coordination of objects during the shift.
