About Auckland Museum

Auckland War Memorial Museum serves as a cherished cultural and heritage institution deeply embedded in Auckland's identity. Role Overview

Reporting directly to the Head of Safety and Visitor Services, this position entails shared leadership over a large frontline team composed of Visitor Hosts and the Bookings Team. The successful candidate will collaboratively oversee the deployment of robust systems and effective people management practices to ensure seamless day-to-day operational excellence by their teams. This fast-paced leadership role drives a world-class visitor experience aligned with the Museum’s core values, policies, and sector best practices.

This is a permanent full-time position with working days from Tuesday through Saturday. Flexibility around scheduling may occasionally be necessary.

Key Qualifications and Experience

  • Practical knowledge of best practices in customer experience delivery.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience within customer service, human resources, events, or GLAM (Galleries, Libraries, Archives, Museums) sectors, ideally within a museum environment.
  • Proven ability to manage and nurture high-performing teams who are front-facing.
  • A passion for guiding others to deliver outstanding visitor interactions and the capability to exemplify best practices.
