Utilities Operator

Job Overview

The Utilities Operator plays a crucial role in ensuring the reliable operation and supply of utility services essential to the business at the Kilinto location. The role demands adherence to safety and quality standards while maintaining efficient utility systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Safely operate utility equipment and systems, including pumps, fans, compressors, and related machinery to ensure continuous and optimal production support.
• Proactively identify and report unsafe situations, unsafe practices, near misses, and high-risk incidents; lead investigations and analyses to enhance safety and prevent recurrence.
• Participate actively in Operational Risk Reduction (ORR) teams aiming to minimize operational risks.
• Comply with local, national, and international safety and quality regulations and standards, including food safety protocols like HACCP.
• Maintain high hygiene and sanitation standards, especially in water, steam generation, CO2 recovery, and compressed air operations through regular cleaning and maintenance routines.
• Ensure equipment safety during operations and maintenance activities; manage work permits and equipment handovers effectively.
• Perform technical support activities such as vibration monitoring, pressure checks, blowdowns, lubrication, and calibration of inline measuring instruments.
• Collaborate with team members and cross-functional units to foster efficient operations.
• Maintain readiness of standby equipment, clean parts, and tools to minimize downtime.
• Track and record utilities consumption data including energy and water metrics.
• Initiate breakdown analyses (BDA) and report alarms to facilitate Machine Total Breakdown Analysis (MTBA) deployment.
• Conduct routine inspections, repairs, minor maintenance, and validate solutions for breakdowns.
• Engage in continuous improvement practices including SFE and Asset Performance Management (APM) rollouts and utilize problem-solving frameworks like root cause failure analysis (RCFA) and 5-why techniques.
• Create detailed breakdown work orders (WOs), ensuring proper documentation and follow-up for improvement.
• Record alarms, parameter trends from new installations, and maintain logs to support performance guarantees.

Job Requirements

• Minimum of two years of experience in utilities operations.
• Strong general understanding of maintenance and solid knowledge of utility operations.
• Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering or a closely related field is required.
