Role overview
The Datacenter Operator will support day-to-day data centre operations in Singapore, helping keep infrastructure stable, monitored, and well maintained. The position combines hands-on engineering support, application helpdesk assistance, incident handling, and operational coordination in a 24x7 environment.
Key responsibilities
- Carry out regular monitoring of data centre systems and respond to alerts, incidents, and operational issues.
- Support routine maintenance activities and help coordinate preventive maintenance work.
- Provide technical helpdesk support for application-related issues and assist users in resolving software concerns.
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network problems and escalate issues when needed.
- Use monitoring and ticketing platforms while following standard ITIL-based processes.
- Record incidents, resolutions, and operational procedures clearly and accurately.
- Work with internal teams and external vendors to ensure issues are handled efficiently.
- Maintain high service quality and contribute to ongoing process improvement.
Requirements
- At least 1 year of practical experience in data centre engineering operations, including monitoring, incident handling, and routine maintenance.
- A certification in data centre facilities operations, or an equivalent qualification showing knowledge of data centre infrastructure, safety, and operating standards.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in application helpdesk support, with a track record of assisting users and resolving application issues.
- Familiarity with monitoring tools, ticketing systems, and ITIL practices.
- Ability to perform health checks, support preventive maintenance, and react quickly to infrastructure alerts.
- Strong diagnostic skills and the ability to identify and escalate technical issues effectively.
- Comfort with writing incident logs, solution notes, and SOPs.
- Good communication skills for working with cross-functional teams and vendors.
- Willingness to work rotating shifts, including weekends and public holidays, to support 24x7 operations.
- A proactive, detail-focused, and collaborative approach.
