Overview
Based in Wellington, this full-time, permanent role offers a wellness allowance after 12 months and a salary midpoint of $122,812, adjusted based on experience. Join the Ministry of Health New Zealand to influence the future of health ethics and emerging technologies, supporting key advisory committees and shaping ethical and regulatory health frameworks in Aotearoa New Zealand.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead significant health ethics policy initiatives supporting the National Ethics Advisory Committee and Advisory Committee on Assisted Reproductive Technology.
- Develop well-researched policy advice, guidelines, and regulatory frameworks addressing complex and emerging ethical challenges in health.
- Manage all stages of policy projects, including defining problems, analyzing options, implementation, evaluation, and risk management.
- Establish and nurture trusted relationships with advisory groups, researchers, academics, health organizations, and other stakeholders.
- Provide leadership and mentorship, enhance policy capabilities, and promote equity and Te Tiriti obligations within the Ministry.
Candidate Profile
- Possesses deep expertise in health ethics and public policy, supported by relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience.
- Comprehensive knowledge of New Zealand's health and disability research ethics frameworks and ethical review processes.
- Proven track record in policy development, including navigating government systems and delivering high-caliber policy advice.
- Excellent communication and critical reasoning abilities to simplify complex issues into actionable recommendations.
- Strong skills in stakeholder engagement and relationship management, with experience influencing diverse groups collaboratively.
