Key Responsibilities

• Lead significant health ethics policy initiatives supporting the National Ethics Advisory Committee and Advisory Committee on Assisted Reproductive Technology.
• Develop well-researched policy advice, guidelines, and regulatory frameworks addressing complex and emerging ethical challenges in health.
• Manage all stages of policy projects, including defining problems, analyzing options, implementation, evaluation, and risk management.
• Establish and nurture trusted relationships with advisory groups, researchers, academics, health organizations, and other stakeholders.
• Provide leadership and mentorship, enhance policy capabilities, and promote equity and Te Tiriti obligations within the Ministry.

Candidate Profile

• Possesses deep expertise in health ethics and public policy, supported by relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience.
• Comprehensive knowledge of New Zealand's health and disability research ethics frameworks and ethical review processes.
• Proven track record in policy development, including navigating government systems and delivering high-caliber policy advice.
• Excellent communication and critical reasoning abilities to simplify complex issues into actionable recommendations.
• Strong skills in stakeholder engagement and relationship management, with experience influencing diverse groups collaboratively.
