Transportation Operations Manager

Overview

The Transportation Operations Manager is responsible for managing the operations of the district's Transportation Department, ensuring the delivery of safe and efficient pupil transportation services.

Qualifications

• Minimum education requirement: High School Diploma or GED.
• Must hold or be able to obtain a Texas commercial driver's license (Class B or A) with "P" and "S" endorsements.
• Required certification: Texas Department of Public Safety School Bus Driver certification.
• Preferred certification: Texas Association for Pupil Transportation (TAPT) Supervisor Certification or higher.

Skills and Knowledge

• In-depth understanding of pupil transportation operations.
• Strong personnel management capabilities.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in English for reading, writing, and verbal communication.
• Familiarity with computer applications; experience with Transfinder is preferred.
• Capable of following both verbal and written guidance effectively.

Physical and Mental Requirements

• Ability to pass the Texas Department of Public Safety school bus driver physical examination.
• Must successfully complete U.S. Department of Transportation alcohol and drug testing.
• Pass criminal history background and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) driving record checks.
• Capability to operate a school bus safely.
• Physical demands include prolonged sitting and standing, occasional bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, twisting, light lifting (15-45 pounds), repetitive hand movements, frequent keyboard and mouse use, and occasional reaching.
• Frequent travel throughout the district is expected.
• Mental demands include managing frequent interruptions while maintaining emotional composure under stress.

Experience

A minimum of five years work experience in school bus transportation is required. Experience in training and safety is preferred.

Additional Information

• Work Days/Contract Status: 230 days, exempt/non-contract position.
• Pay Grade: AP102.

• Standard office and instructional equipment are used daily.
