Overview
The Transportation Operations Manager is responsible for managing the operations of the district's Transportation Department, ensuring the delivery of safe and efficient pupil transportation services.
Qualifications
- Minimum education requirement: High School Diploma or GED.
- Must hold or be able to obtain a Texas commercial driver's license (Class B or A) with "P" and "S" endorsements.
- Required certification: Texas Department of Public Safety School Bus Driver certification.
- Preferred certification: Texas Association for Pupil Transportation (TAPT) Supervisor Certification or higher.
Skills and Knowledge
- In-depth understanding of pupil transportation operations.
- Strong personnel management capabilities.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in English for reading, writing, and verbal communication.
- Familiarity with computer applications; experience with Transfinder is preferred.
- Capable of following both verbal and written guidance effectively.
Physical and Mental Requirements
- Ability to pass the Texas Department of Public Safety school bus driver physical examination.
- Must successfully complete U.S. Department of Transportation alcohol and drug testing.
- Pass criminal history background and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) driving record checks.
- Capability to operate a school bus safely.
- Physical demands include prolonged sitting and standing, occasional bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, twisting, light lifting (15-45 pounds), repetitive hand movements, frequent keyboard and mouse use, and occasional reaching.
- Frequent travel throughout the district is expected.
- Mental demands include managing frequent interruptions while maintaining emotional composure under stress.
Experience
A minimum of five years work experience in school bus transportation is required. Experience in training and safety is preferred.
Additional Information
- Work Days/Contract Status: 230 days, exempt/non-contract position.
- Pay Grade: AP102.

- Standard office and instructional equipment are used daily.
