Position Overview

The Technical Executive will join the lab management team within the School of Electrical & Electronic Engineering to ensure all laboratories operate efficiently and safely. The role involves assisting academic staff with teaching support, guiding student projects, and maintaining compliance with safety standards. Additionally, the role offers opportunities to provide both administrative and technical support to various school initiatives and projects.

Core Responsibilities

  • Ensure seamless operation of school laboratories and assist in conducting lab experiments for both PET and CET programs.
  • Support academic staff in teaching activities and supervise students during their project work, ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
  • Engage in project and consultancy collaborations with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manage inventory and procure necessary resources for labs, including annual budgeting for teaching materials and equipment upkeep.
  • Coordinate with vendors, assess supplier quotations, and facilitate the purchase of lab materials and equipment.
  • Provide troubleshooting assistance and perform minor repairs on electrical, electronic, and IT systems within lab facilities as needed.
  • Conduct regular maintenance and housekeeping of laboratory facilities, maintaining safety guidelines at all times.
  • Offer coordination and consultation support for school functions and project execution involving various stakeholders.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Possess a tertiary-level qualification in Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, or closely related disciplines.
  • Minimum of two years’ practical experience handling engineering projects.
  • Advantageous to have at least two years of specialized experience in areas such as Electronics Design and Development, Embedded Systems, or Computer Networking.
  • Self-motivated with strong interpersonal skills, eagerness to learn through on-the-job experiences, and a collaborative team player attitude.
