Role Overview

Based in Kildare and covering the Kildare & North Leinster region, the Senior HSQE Advisor position involves supporting the implementation and maintenance of the Health, Safety, Quality, and Environmental (HSQE) Management System. Collaborating closely with site teams, the advisor ensures on-site projects comply with safety standards and risks are effectively managed.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collaborate as a team member to facilitate safe project delivery, fostering a unified "one team" culture.
  • Uphold adherence to Health, Safety, Environmental, and Sustainability policies, procedures, and standards on all sites.
  • Promote a proactive safety mindset within the team.
  • Maintain compliance with applicable Environmental and Health & Safety legislation, staying informed on updates and best practices.
  • Provide active HSQE oversight during construction and operations, ensuring controls and mitigation measures are applied and performance monitored.
  • Assist senior advisors with developing and managing Site Construction Stage plans, including traffic and waste management, and oversee their execution.
  • Ensure the organization meets its duties as Project Designer (PD), Project Coordinator (PC), and Contractor.
  • Comply with all internal and external Environmental, Health, and Safety reporting requirements.
  • Monitor and analyse hazards identified in regular inspections and audits using the online management system, and ensure corrective actions with feedback.
  • Lead timely accident and incident investigations, collaborating with project teams and advising management on outcomes and recommendations.
  • Review safety documentation from clients, suppliers, and subcontractors to ensure compliance.
  • Communicate company safety plans and project-specific safety requirements to subcontractors prior to appointment, and update plans as projects progress or new risks arise.
  • Ensure implementation of safety plans and audit adherence by company personnel and contractors.
  • Report any health, safety, or welfare issues to contract management or site supervisors promptly.
  • Advise site management on adequacy of safety arrangements, work methods, equipment safety, and validity of certificates.
  • Maintain comprehensive site safety documentation in partnership with the site team.
  • Conduct safety inductions and briefings for company and subcontractor staff per project safety plans.
  • Perform site inspections and generate related reports.
  • Liaise with external bodies on HSQE matters.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, 45001, and 14001 standards.
  • Assess training needs, identify employee requirements prior to starting projects, and communicate these to the HSQE Manager.
  • Undertake other duties as required.

Candidate Profile and Requirements

  • Possess a minimum Level 7 or higher qualification in Health and Safety.
  • Prior experience in a comparable HSQE role is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Extensive knowledge of Safety, Health and Welfare at Work legislation, regulations, and best practice standards.
  • Hold valid Safe Pass, Manual Handling Certification, and First Aid qualifications.
  • Qualified as a Temporary Works Coordinator and experienced in lifting operations.
  • Experience with confined space work is beneficial.

  • Effective communication skills with high attention to detail.
