About the Role

Join Ventia in supporting Australia’s Defence personnel at the Bandiana Defence Base by providing expert uniform alteration and fitting services. This role is essential for ensuring Defence members are properly outfitted and presentable, offering a vital support service in uniform maintenance and customer interaction.

Key Responsibilities

• Measure and fit Defence personnel for various clothing items accurately
• Apply sewing tasks such as attaching ranks, badges, insignia, and medals in accordance with Defence standards
• Perform alterations including hemming, ironing, and garment adjustments to ensure garment quality and fit
• Maintain detailed records of all seamstress services and orders processed
• Safeguard issued medals and uniform items, ensuring their security and proper care
• Participate in customer service functions including issuing, receiving, and inspecting returned uniform items
• Operate Defence computer systems and terminals for tracking and transactional purposes
• Support stock management, including manual handling, housekeeping, and general store duties
• Adhere strictly to workplace health and safety, security protocols, and environmental policies

Candidate Profile

• Proven experience in sewing, tailoring, or garment alteration roles preferred
• Exceptional attention to detail with a commitment to high-quality results
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Proven ability to collaborate effectively within a team setting
• Strong organisation and time management capabilities
• Basic proficiency with computers and data entry tasks
• Possession of a valid driver’s license and dependable transportation
• Ability to satisfy Defence security requirements including holding Australian citizenship
