Remote Non-QM Underwriter

Overview

This role involves underwriting complex non-qualified mortgage (Non-QM) loan applications with a focus on specialized products such as Bank Statement, DSCR (Debt Service Coverage Ratio), and Asset Depletion loans. The position demands strict adherence to underwriting standards, regulatory compliance, and high accuracy, while ensuring excellent service quality. Candidates must be residents of California, New York, Illinois, New Jersey, or Nevada, and work schedules align with 9-5 Pacific Time hours.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive review and analysis of loan files, including income proof, credit histories, and asset verification for Non-QM loan types.
• Approve or decline loan applications based on established company policies, underwriting guidelines, and legal regulations.
• Collaborate closely with loan officers, processors, and related parties to gather necessary documentation and address any discrepancies.
• Verify completeness, precision, and compliance of loan files prior to making final underwriting decisions.
• Keep updated on relevant industry rules, guidelines, and best practices associated with Non-QM loans.
• Offer mentorship and support to junior underwriting personnel and other team members when required.
• Maintain consistent productivity and ensure quality standards while meeting operational deadlines.

Qualifications and Requirements

• A minimum of three years of professional experience underwriting Non-QM loans.
• In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience with Bank Statement, DSCR, and Asset Depletion mortgage products.
• Active experience in Non-QM underwriting within the last six months.
• Comprehensive understanding of underwriting regulations, guidelines, and compliance criteria specific to Non-QM lending.
• Demonstrated ability to manage a large volume of loans with precision and attention to detail.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Capability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
• Excellent organizational and problem-solving capabilities.

Compensation and Benefits

• Annual salary range of $90,000 to $130,000 plus yearly bonuses.
