Position Overview

The Faculty of Mathematics, Institute for Mathematical Stochastics at TUD, invites applications for a scientific staff member/doctoral candidate position in the Probability Theory department starting December 1, 2026. This fixed-term position of three years (according to WissZeitVG) offers 75% of the regular weekly working hours and focuses on further scientific qualification, typically a PhD (E 13 TV-L salary group).

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct research on stochastic jump processes, including Lévy processes and Feller processes, as well as nonlocal operators and semigroups in stochastic analysis.
• Participate in teaching activities within the mathematics degree programs (Bachelor, Master, Teacher Education) and in courses related to teaching export per HSDAVO regulations.
• Engage in academic self-governance activities at the university.

Qualifications

• A scientific university degree in mathematics with above-average performance.
• Solid knowledge of stochastic processes.
• Familiarity with functional analysis or Fourier analysis.
• For applicants with a foreign educational background: excellent German language skills at least at level C1.
