New Business Development Manager

Position Overview and Context

Join Save the Children International as a New Business Development Manager leading resource mobilisation efforts for the Rwanda and Burundi Country Office. The role is preferably based in Kigali, Rwanda, or can be carried out remotely aligned with Rwanda working hours. It involves creating and executing a comprehensive funding strategy, engaging strategic donors and partners, managing proposal development, and driving portfolio growth aligned with the Country Strategic Plan.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement a robust country funding strategy and donor engagement plans consistent with organizational priorities and regional strategies.
• Build and nurture strategic relationships with donors, partners, governments, and peer agencies to expand funding and collaboration opportunities.
• Lead donor engagement initiatives both locally and internationally and represent the organization at relevant forums and conferences.
• Manage and coordinate proposal and concept note development, ensuring timely, high-quality submissions that incorporate program quality frameworks and best practices.
• Analyze and lead strategic portfolio planning, reporting on funding gaps, sustainability, risks, and support senior leadership in decision-making.
• Identify and research new funding avenues including bilateral, multilateral, and private sector opportunities, maintaining up-to-date donor intelligence.
• Oversee capture planning and opportunity assessment to evaluate competitiveness and inform 'Go/No Go' decisions.
• Support staff capacity building on fundraising, proposal development, donor engagement, and consortia management.
• Promote continuous learning through after-action reviews, knowledge management systems, and disseminating donor feedback.
• Lead and line manage the New Business Development team, ensuring professional growth and a supportive work environment.

Additional Information

• Contract length is 2 years renewable for international staff; open-ended for nationals.
• This position requires Level 2 safeguarding clearance, including a police check due to access to sensitive data related to children.
