Logistics Officer

About the Role

The Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) is recruiting a Logistics Officer to enhance the management of logistics and fleet activities. This position will ensure timely coordination of goods, maintain precise inventory records, optimize fleet usage, and uphold adherence to organizational regulations. The role is a fixed-term contract of two years, contingent upon funding and project approval, and will be located in Abuja, Nigeria. Key Responsibilities

• Facilitate the receiving, storage, and distribution of materials, supplies, and equipment aligned with program requirements.
• Keep detailed and current stock records by regularly updating inventory management systems.
• Assist in monitoring and documenting the dispatch of goods to field sites, ensuring all documentation is completed accurately.
• Manage tagging and tracking of assets with proper documentation.
• Organize and maintain logistics records and filing systems that are audit-ready.
• Work alongside the Fleet Coordinator to implement improvements in logistics processes and systems.
• Coordinate with transportation and vehicle repair services.
• Monitor vendor performance and report any discrepancies to supervisors.
• Maintain and update the asset register covering logistics equipment and tools.
• Help in managing daily fleet operations including vehicle allocation and movement tracking through logbooks.
• Track fuel consumption and inform supervisors of any irregularities.
• Support scheduling of regular vehicle maintenance, repairs, and servicing.
• Assist in organizing travel arrangements for staff and the transportation of goods.
• Keep records related to vehicles up-to-date, including insurance, registration, and inspection certificates.
• Implement safety protocols and promptly report any incidents.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will bring proven expertise in logistics management encompassing fleet operations, procurement, warehousing, inventory control, vehicle maintenance, scheduling, and distribution logistics. They must have strong skills in planning and tracking to maximize delivery efficiency.

Familiarity with donor compliance and supply chain procedures is essential. Candidates should demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office (notably Word and Excel), and the ability to prioritize multiple assignments while meeting deadlines with high-quality output. A proactive and detail-focused approach, adaptability, teamwork capability, and professionalism under pressure are required. Experience in NGOs or donor-funded projects will be advantageous.

Compensation and Terms

The annual gross salary ranges from NGN 9,856,248 to NGN 11,255,100, depending on experience.

Working Conditions & Eligibility

All positions are office-based within GAIN's specified country offices. Candidates must currently live and have legal rights to work in Nigeria, within a reasonable commuting distance to Abuja. GAIN does not provide visa sponsorship or relocation support.
