Job Summary
The Forklift Mechanic position focuses on the maintenance, repair, diagnostics, and overhaul of various forklifts with a special emphasis on diesel, gasoline, and LPG engines. The role ensures forklifts stay in optimal working condition by complying with quality, safety, and operational requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues in forklift trucks.
- Execute preventive, routine, and corrective maintenance tasks on forklift equipment.
- Overhaul, rebuild, and restore diesel, gasoline, and LPG engines following manufacturer guidelines and technical standards.
- Take apart, examine, fix, and reassemble engine parts such as pistons, rods, crankshafts, cylinder heads, and fuel components.
- Maintain and repair fuel, ignition, cooling, and exhaust systems.
- Diagnose and address faults within hydraulic systems, including pumps, cylinders, valves, hoses, and control units.
- Carry out performance tests and operational checks after maintenance to confirm equipment readiness.
- Effectively utilize diagnostic devices, testing tools, and specialized maintenance equipment.
- Document technical reports summarizing detected faults, repairs completed, and maintenance performed.
- Maintain a tidy and safe work environment adhering strictly to occupational health and safety regulations.
- Help reduce equipment downtime and enhance operational efficiency and reliability.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Technical Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Technology, or a related field.
- Proven hands-on experience in maintaining and repairing forklifts.
- Solid expertise in overhauling and rebuilding diesel, gasoline, and LPG engines.
- Good understanding of forklift hydraulic systems and components.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, service manuals, and operational instructions.
- Strong troubleshooting, diagnostic, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Dedication to quality, safety standards, and teamwork.
Technical Abilities
- Proficient in engine overhaul and rebuilding processes.
- Skilled in maintenance of fuel and ignition systems.
- Experienced in hydraulic system diagnostics and repair.
