Role Overview
The Environmental Services Aide is responsible for keeping hospital spaces clean, sanitary, and orderly. This includes dusting and polishing furniture, disinfecting both patient-care and non-patient-care areas, handling refuse and hazardous waste, moving furniture and equipment as needed, and replenishing supplies throughout the facility.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out assigned duties in line with departmental standards and instructions.
- Apply the 7-step cleaning process consistently and achieve at least an 85% score on inspections.
- Use AIDET customer service practices regularly when speaking with patients and visitors.
- Ensure cleaned rooms are tidy, organized, and ready for patient use.
- Store cleaning products and equipment safely whenever they are left unattended.
- Prepare and handle chemical mixtures according to the correct guidelines.
- Follow universal precautions and infection control procedures at all times.
- Take on additional duties whenever required.
Education and Experience
No formal education is required, though a high school diploma or GED is recommended. Prior experience is not necessary, but experience in clinical or healthcare cleaning is preferred.

This is a full-time, first-shift, onsite position based in Decatur, Alabama.
