Role overview
This is a remote contract opportunity for a journalist in Canada. The role calls for a weekly commitment of about 10 to 40 hours.
What you will do
- Investigate story ideas, develop pitches, and turn them into original news pieces, features, and longer-form articles.
- Carry out interviews, collect direct insights, and confirm information through reliable and authoritative references.
- Produce well-written content that is accurate, engaging, and adapted to different reader groups.
- Review, refine, and proofread copy so it remains clear, consistent, and aligned with editorial standards.
- Work alongside editors, designers, and fellow journalists to improve the overall quality of published work.
- Track current developments, trends, and subject areas connected to assigned reporting beats.
What we are looking for
- Background as a journalist, supported by a strong body of previously published work.
- Excellent writing and speaking abilities, along with careful attention to detail.
