Overview

User Experience Researchers Pte Ltd is seeking an experienced Data Scientist to join their team in Singapore. The role focuses on developing advanced machine learning solutions and geospatial analytics to support long-term infrastructure and space planning projects in a dynamic, public sector-related environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with planners, analysts, and various stakeholders to understand and translate long-term planning requirements into precise analytical and technical specifications.
• Perform exploratory data analysis to extract insights that guide solution design, emphasizing scalable and operationally feasible approaches.
• Architect comprehensive machine learning systems tailored for geospatial applications and demand forecasting, including building the client’s Spatial Modelling Engine.
• Develop robust data pipelines, craft feature engineering methods, and implement maintainable model deployment frameworks ensuring interpretability and auditability over several years.
• Build, test, and deploy ML models and geospatial analytics solutions in production environments, managing diverse data sets such as housing development info, demographic data, migration trends, land-use plans, and accessibility metrics.
• Work closely with engineering and platform teams to guarantee ongoing model operation and monitoring.
• Enhance predictive and spatial models forecasting educational demand, applying spatial regression, time-series forecasting, agent-based modelling, or deep learning techniques.
• Constantly assess model effectiveness, validate outcomes against real data, and refine modeling methods to boost accuracy and reliability.

Required Qualifications

• 3 to 5 years of practical experience in data science or a related discipline.
• Proven experience delivering production-ready machine learning solutions.
• Familiarity with geospatial datasets and tools is highly desirable.
• Background in demographic analysis, urban development, or public sector analytics is beneficial.
• Knowledge of Singapore’s planning data such as URA Master Plan or HDB housing pipeline data is an advantage.
• Proficiency in Python and relevant ML libraries including scikit-learn, PyTorch, or TensorFlow.
• Experience with geospatial frameworks like GeoPandas, QGIS, PostGIS, or ArcGIS is a plus.
• Strong SQL abilities.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Comprehensive understanding of the complete ML lifecycle from data wrangling to deployment and performance tracking.
• Advanced expertise in ML methods like ensemble models, regularisation, agent-based simulation, and forecasting.
• Excellent communication skills with ability to convey complex data insights to non-technical stakeholders.
• Adept at working collaboratively within cross-disciplinary teams.
